  • Opening Day is Saturday, April 28! Ceremony at 10am, games start immediately after
Opening Day

This Saturday, April 28 is Westbrook Little League's 2018 Opening Day!

All players should arrive at Ted Lane field by 9:30am to group up with their teams. We'll do a short opening ceremony with team introductions and then it's time to play ball.

Games will begin shortly after the ceremony finishes:

Ted Lane, AAA game: Bill's Seafood "Sharks" @ Lee Company "Rockets"

Ray Palmieri, AA game: Coyne's Automotive "Turbos" @ Wilcox Energy "Heat"

All players will be given lunch following their game (chips/snack and drink included) and the concession stand will be open from 9:30am until after the players from the AAA game are all fed.

The AA game time is 90 minutes, so head over to the stand after your game to grab lunch and then watch the rest of the AAA game, which will take about 2 hours (2:15 max by rule), after which all players will be fed lunch.

Reminder: Player and Team photos will take place on Thursday 5/3 (Fire Co., Lee Co., Coyne's) and Friday 5/4 (Bill's, Wilcox).  Order forms will be given out by coaches on Opening Day.  Wear your full uniform, change after photos if you just have a practice.

WLL Day At The Hartford Yard Goats Game - Tickets On Sale

Westbrook Little League will be heading up to Dunkin' Donuts Park in Hartford on Saturday, June 2 to see the Yard Goats take on the Altoona Curve (the MLB AA affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates).

Click HERE to print the ticket form or get one from your coach or the concession stand.  Fill it out and return it to your coach or to the concession stand (when it's open). Deadline to buy tickets is May 18, 2018.

DD park is very easy to get to, parking is cheap (usually around $5) and the park is gorgous and very kid-friendly. Bring the whole family for a fun night at the ballpark with fireworks afterward!

Opening Day!

Westbrook Little League will hold Opening Day Ceremonies on Saturday, April 28, 2018.  Games between our teams at the AA and AAA levels will follow a brief opening ceremony.  A date for player and team photos is currently in the works and being coordinated with the photographer and will be scheduled prior to May 5.  Players will be fed lunch following the ceremony and prior to their games.

We're praying for good weather and hope to see everyone out at the ballpark on the 28th!

Save The Date: WLL Hartford Yard Goats Outing on June 2!

Save the date: June 2nd will be our Westbrook Little League outing to see the Hartford Yard Goats take on the Altoona Curve at Dunkin' Donuts Park. Game starts at 6pm!

Getting to the park is simple and there's plenty of parking adjacent to the stadium.

We plan to begin selling tickets once practices begin.  Tickets are $11 and we'll be sitting in the field level seats just past the home team dugout.

The stadium is beautiful, clean, has good food and it's very, very kid friendly if you haven't been yet.

There will be fireworks after the game, too!

Winter Clinics at Oxford Academy

Once again our annual Winter Training Clinics at the Oxford Academy were a big success!

A big thank you to all the volunteers - Sean Grace, Vidal Velez, Dale Bennett, Brad Porter, Clint Bonner and Randy Leandri (and anyone else we missed!) - and parents who helped out, giving our kids a good head start before taking the fields with their teams at some point next week!

While the clinics are not mandatory, we were able to see and assess the skills of about 90% of the players registered this year.  All current coaching candidates for the season were in attendance, which will help keep things fair when teams are drafted at the end of the week.

Keep an eye out for contact from coaches as while there is no Saturday clinic this week teams will start hitting the fields with practices beginning as soon as Monday, April 9.

As long as there's no snow on the ground, of course.

Reminder: once a player is registered to play during the 2018 spring season in Westbrook Little League he/she may attend the winter training sessions currently underway on Saturday mornings at the Oxford Academy Gymnasium (across the street from Daisy Ingraham). Clinics run through the end of March, when teams will be picked and the coaches will take over.

First session:
K-2nd grade, 8:30am - 9:30am

Second session:
3rd-*6th grade, 9:30am - 10:50am

These times should allow for any players who are also planning on playing Park & Rec Floor Hockey time to get over to Daisy for those sessions.  Third graders are the most likely to see a conflict, in which case they may attend either session if so.

*due to implementation of new Little League age rules a handful of 7th graders will be grandfathered in to this year's majors division

Little League Baseball has adopted new standards for its bats beginning on January 1, 2018.

All bats that do not bear the USA Baseball Logo are now prohibited from use in any Little League activity, including games, practices and clinics.

Solid, one piece wood barrel bats are acceptable and do not require the USA Baseball logo.

Westbrook Little League has purchased three dozen new bats so that each team has a variety to choose from. Players are allowed to use their own bat as long as it complies with this new rule.
